hi,
i have recently been trying to insert/install a hit counter on to my personalized webspace, but i am a bit baffled on how to do so. It says things such as HTML codes and stuff. This makes me confused. I tried opening the "source" while on my website by pressing view on my tool bar: view -----> source. this then opens up the HTML editor for the particular site you are on. I copied and pasted my hit counter code onto there.
But it didn't work!!!!
So i double checked by going back into the HTML thing and the code wasn't there!
Even though i saved it!!!
Does anybody know where i have gone wrong or how to install hit counters properly?
Please help me!!
ps. would the same method also apply to music codes? |

jean,
first of all you need to get an HTML editor like Frontpage or Dreamweaver.
then you need to make your website and add the code into the site using your HTML editor
once you have your website looking as you want it, upload it to your webspace using either the webspace file manager or a FTP uploading software package like smartFTP.
for more information see http://www.webdeveloper.com/html/beginners_html.html
hope that helps |

| Never saw the point in a hit-counter. I think it makes a site look really needy! I think that most hosting companies use Webalizer http://www.mrunix.net/webalizer/ which is normally hidden to visitors. Maybe worth a look. I've never tried installing it as it was pre-installed by my host, but at least you don't need to add anything to your website/ HTML code! |

| Rik is quite right, however, not everyone has access to the host control panel and some hosts don't install these stats as default. |
