Is it normal practice to drill through a crown to do a root filling. I have recently had two bad experiences of root canal work. The first: A root filling was done in a tooth, which 2 weeks after completion, the tooth split in half. The second: A root filling was done in a tooth with a crown. The job was completed, but I have a dip forming in the middle, where the surface is being worn away. I have been back once already and the cown was filed down to make it level, and now a dip is forming again. I was wondering what material should be used to replace the gold surface of the crown where the root filling was completed should be used
