I have a family room 24 by 24 on I believe one circuit.
I have a lamp, computer, cable box and a big screen TV plugged into the circuit.
Each year I also plug in an air conditioner......
I have never had any problems.....
yesterday when I plugged in the air conditioner and ran it on high it seemed ok.
when I went into the room and put on the light and tv and the AC was running on high...it tripped the circuit breaker in the panel.
I went downstairs reset the breaker then went back up......when I went over to the AC to plug it back in I noticed the plug and socket was very hot.
I did not run the AC for the rest of the night.
this morning I went and got a a plug strip with safety breaker on it and plugged in the AC and put it on low, with the setting on energy saver.
After about a few minutes the AC went off and when I checked the strip the breaker on the strip had tripped.
I felt the cord and socket and it was hot.........
the AC unit is old....could this be the problem?
Or is it something in the socket or circuit?
help please |
