I just bought my first home, it's an older home that still has a fuse panel box instead of a circuit breaker. The day of closing I noticed the track lighting in the kitchen and dining room were no longer working. The previous owner had recently replaced the bulbs with the new energy efficient ones (which I had no knowledge of). The track lighting has dimmer switches. We found the blown fuse and as we replaced it the new one blew immediately. Please tell me what I need to do. We're moving in tomorrow (June Cool

and I'm certainly going to remove those bulbs. Will that fix it or will it be a costly mistake by him.

I greatly appreciate any advice.

Flourescent bulbs dont dim like incandescent ones. Check the rating on the fixture to make sure the bulbs are sized properly. Did changing the bulbs fix it? It sounds more like a short circuit to me. Fuses are just as good as circuit breakers, some people would argue they are better since you have to install a new one when the old one goes.
