I have an interesting situation on my hands. To give you an overview of my problem I will have to go rather in depth.

I have internet via cable modem, connected to a wireless router. The initial setup was as follows. One pc connected wirelessly, 1 pc, 1 xbox 360, and 1 ps3 all connected via ethernet cable.

Two nights ago everything was working perfectly. At that point in time my power was shut off due to a payment mixup. Since my power was reactivated, last night, the ethernet ports on all three (ps3, 360, and pc) are totally fried. However, the wireless connection still works. The ethernet ports will not register any sort of connection at all. My xbox 360 is also severly damaged to the point of freezing within 5 minutes or less of turning it on at this point as well.

I tried directly connecting each of the systems and the pc directly to the cable modem (assuming it was a router problem), and confirmed that not a single one will register connectivity with a wired connection. I also tried swapping out my router and confirmed with a 2nd router that it was very much not a router problem.

My main question is primarily, could this be caused from the power company shutting off my power and/or turning it back on for that period of time, or is it perhaps my router frying all of my ethernet ports? My main concern is to get a better idea of what might have happened to cause this problem so I might get compensation for damages. If you could help point me in the right direction I would be extremely grateful.

Thanks Smile

Turning off the power should not have caused that to happen... just like when you flip the switch to the surge protected power strip... the power would turn off. Sorry not to be of any help to you.
