|
|
Hi, I am just about to start a loft conversion and the builder's plumber has stated that we will need a megaflow as we are putting a shower in the loft space.
We already have a "newish" 2yr old coffin tank in the loft for the 1st floor shower and it kicks a serious amount of water (as a Canadian I know from good water pressure!!) soi I assumed it would be ok for the loft shower too.....appearantly not.
He reckons he can fit a megaflow for £1150 into the cupboard with the boiler (replacing the smallish hot water tank) and removing the need for the shower pump and coffin tank.
My concerns are;
1)the proposed megaflow is too small for a 4/5 bed detatched house with a bath and shower (and our oldest approaching teenage years and "soon to be" increasing shower time!!).
2) No one has tested our mains pressure so will the megaflow even work???
3) I asked the builder to sort this out a while ago and i`m not sure he's not trying to push our price up - his plumber wants £1400 to sort the plumbing for an existing bathroom with minimal movement of bog, bath and sink??? can this be right???
Please help, they are due to start this Wednesday......
Neil. |

Without knowing the mains pressure and flow rate, don't even consider an un-vented.. Thames is mostly minimum pressure, typically between 1 & 2 bar.
If you have enough storage and are happy with the pump then an negative head pump will do the job.
I can't really comment on the plumber or the price because I don't know what he's doing, or what materials are needed.
London rates are high compared to other areas, because of parking, getting about, and general cost of things. How did you find the plumber, was it a recommendation or did he come with the builder.
Ask for references and check them |
