Help! Ive been cold for a month and my boiler is driving my poor plumber to the brink of a nervous breakdown.
It is a 5 year old Ideal Classic FF330 which has always been a bit delicate, but it's new trick is to light for about 10 minutes when you first turn it on, get the radiators tepid at the top and then the burner goes off. The fan stays on and it keeps clicking and trying to light the burner for ages. When the burner finally comes back on it just repeats the cycle.
The Ideal technical "helpline" have been quite snotty to both me and my plumber and have told him to replace, in this order- the air pressure switch, the ignition electrode, the circuit board (£100!) and nothing has made any difference. This morning they told him to replace the gas valve (another £90 plus!) after previously telling him that definately wasn't the problem. I have ordered a gas valve but neither of us have much confidence in this working either. Any ideas for my bionic boiler??! Helen |
