Hi I wonder if anyone can help
We are a group of 19 machinist with 3 men who pack our work that we make.
We are going for equal pay on the base of equal value,
And our bosses are trying to say that we can only clam 3 years back pay, as the other 3 years the guys use to hand ball boxes onto a wagon. our jobs have not changed, but the men no longer hand ball the boxes on the wagon and I’m sure that they are classed as labours and we are experience machinist
We see it as. if we did not sew any garments then the men would have nothing to put on the wagons
We thought equal value was not what you did but weather your jobs was of equal value. and we think that we have a good case for calming the full 6 years back pay. Can you also give me some questions as to why we can’t have the 6 years I want to be ready just in case they say we can only have 3 years we moved factory 3 years ago but are still under the same company
Can you help us in any way thanks for your time

I'm sure you'll take it the wrong way but what the heck.

I cannot see for the life of me what your argument is.

Equal value, what the hell does that mean.

If I was the owners I would close the machine shop and move it to India before the lunatics take over the asylum.

Assuming you're serious, join a union, they managed to kill the coal industry and most other major manufacturing in this country so your cosy little job shouldn't be any problem.
