| New bathroom fitted with sink and bath adjacent to one another. They have the same bottom waste pipe which does not slope due to design of bath panel; the previous one didn't much either though. When you turn the sink tap on fast the bath starts to fill up through the plug hole (though not immediately); the water doesn't know which way to go I assume. The sink does however empty OK. The bath however either empties fine or is reduced to a slow dribble. I have been advised that even with a non sloping waste pipe. pressure and gravity should still drive the water away. A plunger seems to make no difference, neither does Sulphuric Acid or Mr Muscle: I assume therefore no blockage. Why does the bath clear fine one minute and not the next. Flow can even change during the emptying of one bath. Toilet empties fine. Is it an air pressure problem somewhere, for example in the main house soil pipe. I could get the plumber back but before he decided to rip new tiles away to get at anything, I'd like a second opinion first |
