Hi,

my boiler suddenly stopped working whilst i was in the shower!

can't see a pilot light,not entirely clear as to how to re-ignite the pilot.

it's an ariston micro genus type c , serviced regularly.

there is a little red light that flashes when I press down the reset button ( the manual is refreshingly un-clear,but i think this means "lockdown") and it eventually stays on for a while and then goes off. pressing the reset button doesn't seem to re-ignite teh pilot.

any suggestions greatfully appreciated.

actually, just read the trouble shooting manual and it says that the illuminated light is when it shuts down due to defective dicharge of exhaust fumes ...it says it's temporary...any suggestions? is this dangerous?

You need a CORGI registered boiler engineer to deal with the gas/combustion side of the boiler.

Is it dangerous? Well if the flue gasses are not being discharged properly then the boiler would be classed as Immediatly Dangerous so yes!

shall i turn it off and not try to ignite it again?

any idea why the fumes may not be being discharged properly?

the manual says that this is only a temporary shutdown for about 15 mins.

have also just noticed that the pressure seems to be very low...it's well below 1.5 but not quite in the red yet...should I just turn the power off?

How many times have you already tried it??

If it cuts off more than once then yes turn it off and call someone in.

I can think of several suggestions as to problem but unless you know what you are doing you could well leave the boiler in a dangerous condition.
