i'm replacing an old bathroom fan with a new Vent - Axia fan. the current fan works from an independant switch.
the old fan has a neutral, live and green/yellow wire which i assumed to be the earth but the connection has S/L (is this switch live?)
the new fan doesn't have the S/L terminal. when connecting the neutral & live wire only the fan has power all the time and i cannot use the switch.
i tried connecting the S/L wire in the neutral terminal but this blew the fuse.
can you advise? |

I presume the cable is a 3 core flex and the g/y has not been marked as a live cable.
Connect the neutral as normal and the g/y into the live terminal of the new fan.
Tape up the brown/live.
The fan should now work on the switch.
This is how I think it has been done from your discription, post some pis if you are unsure.
