Replace Dip Tube or Replace Heater

I suspect my gas water heater is failing -- it is seven years old and the water turns cold after only a few minutes when showering. From what I have read, the problem is most likely the dip tube. Is it possible (and cheaper) to replace the dip tube, or should I just replace the entire heater?
