Hi

Yes, providing you have a license (or product key) for XP, then it should be a simple matter of inserting the XP cd and selecting Upgrade (XP should detect you are currently running windows 2000) - you may also need to insert your windows 2000 installation disk during the upgrade depending on the version of XP you are trying to upgrade with.

However I strongly recommend you perform a clean installation of Windows XP on your sons PC as there is a lot that can go wrong, specifically drivers that have been installed on your sons pc for hardware that microsoft may not have the appropriate XP drivers for will fail completely or intermittently.

Good Luck

Nick
