Hi

We have about 7 or 8 small fern trees at the front of our house. A builder visited us the other day and advised that these trees should not be there or any closer then 1 meter near to the house, otherwise the routes would cause damage and that this should have been picked up on the original survey.

Is this correct?

Don't know the actual regs but it makes sense that the roots will cause damage.
