I have a potterton Myson Puma 80 100 boiler and I noticed this morning that the low system pressure indicator light was on which indicates that the system requires recharging (no heating or hot water). Everything was fine yesterday and there has been no recent work done except a service about 4 months ago.
Unfortunately the manual doesn't explain what I need to do about the problem and so I have no idea what this means - is it something I can do myself? NB please keep the language plain and simple cos I aint no plumber.
Ta
PS the pressure dials show the following .... red indicator is on 1 (green) and the smaller black indicator is hovvering on 3 (red) |

One of the dials is an indicator showing where it should be and can be moved by hand, the other is the actual pressure.
It sounds more like high pressure than low, look outside and see if the pressure relief valve has discharged.
Can you see a braided hose (filler loop) and is it connected both ends and turned off. |

The PRV is shown in the manual, but you need to check the pipe outside to see if there's any sign of a discharge.
Do you have a sealed system or an small header tank in the loft. |

Cant see anything coming out of the pipe utside and i live in a flat and so have no idea if there is a tank anywhere else.
The pressure gauge only changed as a result of me turning the tap on to the pipe leading out of the boiler - thinking that this would increase the pressure and solve the problem. |

Is the pipe a solid or flexible.
what is the actual pressure at the moment, as I said one is just an indicator on the glass |
