|
|
Just wondering, what type of insulation can i place between floors.
Will be having the floorboards up on all middle floors to run pipes and cables so a good time to put insualtion in.
The purpose of the insulation is most importantly to cut down on sound transfer from living room to bedrooms above and secondly as we will be having underfloor heating just to add extra layer for heat to penetrate.
Low cost solution preferable.
Thanks. |

If you enclose cables within rockwool type insulation you will half their current carring capacity so this is not a good idea. Jablite foam sheets wedged in would probabley be better.

Jablite it is then, thanks Vince.
Will look out for best price on two inch thick sheets.
Just because i want to know, why is it that enclosing cables in rockwool halves the current they can carry?
I assume it is to do with heat storage? Cable is kept warmer therefore resistance is higher and capacity is lowered?
Guess that under normal low load no difference in current capacity is displayed, only when more is demanded of the circuit does it become an issue? |

| The National grid are spending millions of pounds on cable cooling, as it increases the efficiency by around 50% |
