Friend of mine has recently been to court over speeding offences after being zapped twice on same stretch of road by two separate speed cameras whilst doing 40 in 30 limit.
Particular road was dual carriageway and the photos were taken one minute apart.
Fairness would dictate that this was one offence of speeding recorded twice, however he was fined and given three points twice, so clearly treated as two offences by the court!
Should he appeal?

You are perfectly entitled to ask for copies of the photos.

However what does seem strange is how the camera took two photos 1 min apart!! Did your friend go through the camera then return within that time to trigger it again??

Speed cameras always take two images of a speeding car a few milli seconds apart. It can then be determined the speed of a vehicle by the distance it travelled between these two images. That is the reason for the white grid lines on the carrageway after each camera.

The point of the question was that it was one stretch of road which has a 30mph speed limit but due to length of road has several speed cameras.
My friend was captured by two separate cameras but on same stretch of road covered by the same speed limit.
Some stretches of road have upto six cameras so in effect if you drive along at 40mph you will be snapped by all 6 cameras!
Is this not one offence of speeding captured 6 times? :?
