I have a new hot tub and the electrician and I ran 6 gauge 4 wire from the panel to the tub. The tub requires i have a 50amp gfi and I have it. It requires 220 volts it says also. Th egfi is a double pull so I believe thats enough volts for the required 220, right?
Heres my problem. Im at the other end now, at the hot tub. I was thinking about installing and on/ off switch or a plug. Because of the gauge wire the switchs im looking at are similer to the dryer plugs. what amps and volts do i buy? Do i look for a 50 amp and a 220/240 volt plug. do I have to stay the same as the specs? |

| Stay with the specs that came with the hot tub... everything on the circuit should match. Your local home improvement store should carry what you need... there is a disconnect kit specifically for hot tubs. You have to have a disconnect at the tub. Ask in the electrical department at the store and they should be able to help you. |
