I have a new hot tub and the electrician and I ran 6 gauge 4 wire from the panel to the tub. The tub requires i have a 50amp gfi and I have it. It requires 220 volts it says also. Th egfi is a double pull so I believe thats enough volts for the required 220, right?
Heres my problem. Im at the other end now, at the hot tub. I was thinking about installing and on/ off switch or a plug. Because of the gauge wire the switchs im looking at are similer to the dryer plugs. what amps and volts do i buy? Do i look for a 50 amp and a 220/240 volt plug. do I have to stay the same as the specs?

Stay with the specs that came with the hot tub... everything on the circuit should match. Your local home improvement store should carry what you need... there is a disconnect kit specifically for hot tubs. You have to have a disconnect at the tub. Ask in the electrical department at the store and they should be able to help you.
