Hi,
I have Karndean tiles in my kitchen. I have recently removed an island unit that exposed an unscreeded concrete section which I want to tile to match the rest of the kitchen. I've removed the surrounding tiles to expose the edge of the screeded section but the removed tiles have left behind the adhesive that was used to fix them. Therefore, if I was to screed the unscreeded section, this would effectively raise the level of the screed to the level of the screed with the adhesive on it. Which would then make the new tiles stand proud of the original ones when the new adhesive is added and the tiles are stuck down. (Explaining things was never my strong suit; hopefully somebody is able to understand my ramblings.)
So, if anyone has managed to reach the end of that explanation can you offer any advice? I have it on good authority that there is no self-levelling compound that has an in-built adhesive, so my only option seems to be to screed then add adhesive, which would make the tiles a millimetre or so too high.
Unless any of you good people can offer any alternative suggestions.
Thanks in advance.
