Hi guys,

I hope someone can help! I've recently installed a new corner bath, however the water flow (pressure) from the cold tap is very low, in the hot water is flowing at almost 2.5 times the rate. It takes 10 seconds to fil 1.5 litres from the hot tap and 24.5 seconds from the cold tap. At first I thought it was an air lock. So I connected the mains water from the sink to the 22mm pipe at the cold bath tap and turn the water on full, the water pressure flowing into the tank in the loft was excellent. Just to double check there was no blocks or anything, I emptied the loft tank, shut off the mains at the ball-cock and filled the tank using the mains going up from the bath tap, the tank filled in a few minutes.

Can anyone offer any suggestions as to what the problem might be. I'm 100% sure there is no air lock or blockage. But I just can't understand the difference in floe from the hot & cold taps given they are both fed from the same loft tank!

Thanks and best regards

Jim

Are they seperate taps or mixer taps.

If seperate then I would suspect the filter/aerator is blocked because the system wasn't flushed properly.

Remove the filter on the end of the spout and clean it.

Hi TheScruff,

Thanks for the reply. They're are mixer taps, however, I've disconnected the pipe from the tap alltogether and the flow rate is no different. The flow through the tap and direct from the pipe is exactly the same. So it doesn't look like it's anything to do with the tap.

Airlock or blockage in the pipe then.

Is it tank cold or mains.

Is there any gate type valves in cold water suppyl. These have a habit of closing but not opening fully afterwards. This would create a restriction to the flow.
