hi, i dont know if anyone can help me with this question or not but ive gone to see my midwife and asked her if i can have a c-section due to some very bad family history and a problem with my back. both of these things have helped create a completely overwelming fear of natural child birth, both for me and the wellbeing of my baby. i tried to explain this to her but she acted like a bull dog chewing a wasp and done nothing but shout (yes shout!) at me and tell me in short tough luck and that you cant ask for a c section Evil or Very Mad . now i have checked the 2004 NICE guidelines (couldnt find 2005's) which say yes it should be discouranged as much as possible but in the end the woman has to be allowed to give birth in any way she feels comfortable but obviously has to be told of the benifits and risks. is this correct? im so stressed about this issue i can get it off my mind! Embarassed

I have got to say you MUST change you midwife. I have 2 children and the whole pregancy expereince was completely different because of the midwife. I had a bad one like yours sound and I had the most fantastic lady who supported me and looked after me all the way. I was asking the same questions as you as I had a bad first birth and the midwife was fab sorting out all options. She even cam to the hospitall with me when I went in to labour (her day off). You need this support go and see you doctoer and ask for a diffent nurse. Mums to be should never be stressed. good luck
