I have a set of new low voltage outdoor lights. I purchased them with the intent of using them indoors. The instructions say "Caution the power pak must be installed outdoors". Why is this? What danger would there be keeping the powerpak indoors in a cool well ventillated basement? Please advise.

I can see no reason at all, normally the power pack has to be indoors because of the mains voltage. As long as it is in free space and not resting on anything flamable, go for it.
