Hi,

I live in a 2 year old hose and the lead flashing is already starting to show signs of staining -- like rusting. I live close to the sea and was wondering if this could be the cause? Also are ther any products on the market which will clean off this staining? I've heard that patination oil may do the trick?

Thanks very much in anticipation.

Yes the salt or for that matter atmosphere will turn the lead grey very quickly.

You should cover the lead with Patination oil, Builders merchant should have or be able to get some for you, failing that ask a roofer where he gets it, or if he will sell you some.

just wipe it over the lead with a cloth and polish away.
