Hi again

I now have a question about insulation. Building regs have told me that the rules about what type of insulation to use are a bit up in the air and as long as I can prove that how I insulate the roof complies to government guidelines
then what ever I do is fine. I need to insulate the roof with a U value of 0.2.

Could anybody tell me how to do a SAP calculation to show building regs which will satisfy them?

Thanks

Give me a few minute and I'll find the ODPM site where you can download the regs, with a form to work it out in the back.

Celotex is the best insulation, although there is a cheaper stuff just as good available from Travis Perkins.

A builder has let me know about some insulation called YBS insulation which is like a tinfoil quilt.

The company that supply this say it is complient with building regs and will do a SAP rating certificate for £75.

www.ybsinsulation.com

I am very limited for head height, My drawings say I should use 55mm kingspan but building regs say it is now 130mm minimum. This will take up an extra 12.5cm which is space I cannot afford to lose

This YBS stuff sounds ideal.

What do you think?

You want all of them to read, but L1a & L1b & L2a cover your last question.

http://www.celotex.co.uk/

Loads of pdf to download, has all the sap ratings, regs etc, worth a read.

As I said the best but you pay for it.

I fitted it between the rafters at home, then taped the joints and rafter to rafter with self adhesive silver backed tape, ( used for lagging as well)

The advantage was no loss of head room.
