Could anybody tell me how to attach wood to an I beam?
This is how I need to attach my joist hangers.

Thanks

Normally the joist would be notched into the H beam.

But as per your drawing the easiest way would be to fire the nails straight into the steel using the correct size cartridges.

You can hire a machine for this, but you must follow safety proceedure and wear the protective gear.

Is this machine you mention called a tek screw gun? If not what do I ask for in the hire shop?

Thanks for replying

Called a spit gun.

Hilti also do a system based on the same idea, possibly better, see what the hire shop has and go on their advice.

No Probs, as I said follow the instruction to the letter, and ask the hire shop man to demonstrate.

Do not play with the wrong colour cartridges, treat it as a shot gun that can kill if abused.
