Hi
I've been trying to connect my 2 computers together so my family can play games against each other.
I don't want them to be on the internet, just file sharing - apparently this is a closed system LAN.
If anyone has any ideas how to connect them i'd be grateful.
All the websites i've read talk about wireless ADSL broadband etc
I don't want anything that complicated. Both my computers have network cards installed and are in the same room so can be linked with a cable
All ideas welcome |

i'm no expert on this, but it should be pretty straight forward.
if they both have working network cards, just connect the cards together with a CAT5 cable
then make sure both computers are on the same 'workgroup'
easiest way (assuming that you're using Windows XP) is to run the network setup wizard on both machines (make sure the cable is connected first though) the wizard can be found by going to...
--> Start
--> Control Panel
--> Network Setup Wizard
go through the wizard making sure that you enter the same 'workgroup' for both machines
i'm pretty sure that should be it. |

If it is just the two machines and no hub, then the network cable has to be a 'X' (crossed) one.
