Both myself and my wife have renault Vehicles....me a Kangoo Van her a Clio...after about 12 months on my van a warning light saying "SERV" appeared along with a symbol showing an air bag the van was new when bought from Renault but I have it serviced by a local mechanic He tells me that this warning light is fitted by renault to some sort of time delay switch to light up when a service becomes due and that only they can extinguish it, and low and behold the same has happened on my wifes Clio. Do you know if it is a fact that Renault fit these warning lights to come on so that you have to have your vehicle serviced by them....or is it a myth....and if it is true, is it lawfull!!!

Many thanks
Steve

Yes and no to your question Confused

Peugeot have the samme thing whereas the lights come on when the service becomes due, there is a way to turn it off though read your hand book.

I think you hold the butten in for ex time, but your mechanic should know this.

hope this helps, if not go back to where you got and ask them to turn it off.

saying that it will come back on at the next service due

just to let you know i've had the same problem with my renault megane, the problem could be your seatbelt pre tensioner which is under your front passenger seat. this is a general problem with renault as the electrics are unreliable,if you give this junction under the seat a wiggle the warning should dissapear. i know not a very technical way to deal with it but it works

You're going to laugh a this one.... I had the same problem with my Megane, in very non-techical terms, the problem is a wire under the passenger seat that has something to do with the airbag sesnor. It was not secured to the seat properly which caused the car to think the airbag had gone off, when my light was on the steering wheel would not locked when the engine was turned off, and the automatic door lock would also not come on (the car must've thought it was in an accident or something)!!!

Everytime mine comes on I reach under the seat and give the wire a little wiggle and it goes off!!! Much cheaper than taking it to the dealers!!
