I am replacing a ceiling fan, which was eqipped with a light kit, with just a light fixture. There were 2 separate switches, which operated the fan. Another separate switch operated the light. There are the standard Black, White, and Red wires. I connected the Black wire of the new light fixture to the black wire of the power source, and the white to the white. The switch, which operated the light kit on the ceiling fan now operates the "on" "off" of the new light fixture. While the 2 switches, which previously operated the fan on the ceiling fan do nothing. I want the 2 switches, which operated the fan on the ceiling fan to operate the new light fixture. I attempted to connect the black wire from the light fixture to thye red from the power source and received a spark. How can this light fixture be wired such that the 2 switches operate the light? Thank you.

First you need to ID the wires with a meter.

Using two-way switches take the phase (live) to the common "C" of switch "a".

From switch"a" L1 & L2 take a wire to its corresponding terminals in switch "b" ( their both phase wires ) from the "C" of switch "b" take a phase wire to the light fitting, the neutral will connect at the light fitting.

if you want a sketch send me an email.

thescruff. Cool
