Is it a free standing unit or a installed unit with ducts etc to each area.

What type of unit, is it an AHU that does hot or cold or just for cooling.

Does it have a return air duct from each area.

The normal thing to look for would be system balance, AC units need to be balanced and sized the same as central heating.

Is there any means to do this by opening or shutting grills.

Ok so its an air handling unit (AHU) with a heater battery and cooling unit.

Somewhere in the ducts to each outlet should be a butterfly type valve, which controls the air flow to each area.

The top floor will always be hotter than a lower floor so more air changes/flow are needed to reach the design temperature.

My recommendation would be to contact the installer and get them to measure the flow at each grill and adjust it as required, which should have been done in the commissioning stages (and I would not expect to pay).

and this topic should be under Plumbing and heating.

i tried closing some valve at the first floor yesterday night. It actually help a bit. On the second floor, i could feel the cold air. Better than before. However, at night time the A/C doesn't go on cause downstair (first Floor) is remain at 23 degree. yet, the second floor is hot. while we are sleeping with the door close.
is there anything we can do about this??
how can i make it turn on at night time "mid-night".??

i am sorry about posting this message in the wrong topic list.
i thought plumbing is only subject related to water.

Thank for you help in advance.

As I said its all about flow rates, if the top floor is only getting say 30% and the 1st floor 70% then the top will never reach the required temperature.

You may have to modify the 1st floor, posibly inserting restrictor rings.

I would still get the installer back to balance it.

Only other option is to move the room stat to the top floor, problem would be the 1st floor being below required temperature.
