| my hot water system is set up exactly as my neighbour, yet the pressure to my bath and hand basin is half the pressure of his, we have the same hot water tank same size header tank and houses were built same time 45 years ago.the header is the same heighth above the boiler, i have checked all gate valves and taps on the hot water lines all are o.k ,my cold water supply is great my central heating likewise, prssure downstairs also. it is just the bath and handbasin, which like my neighbours is on the same floor as hot water tank, thought of installing a pump but this would only cover up the problem, ,could my lines be furred up, if so do i need to replace or can they be flushed |

Are we to presume its always been the case or a resent development.
The problem could be anything from a stuck washer to fured up pipes, whats the condition of the system in general.
If the pipes are fured up then replacing them would be the cheapest and best option as you would need to use a powerful chemical not recommended for potable water.
Is the bath and basin off the tank cold, and whats the hot pressure like.

| I only noticed the problem after fitting new mixer tap to hand basin, the first thing I did when moving in was to fit a power shower, which has its own separate hot and cold supply, the cold water supply to the house is mains ,other than the header tanks plus the seperate tank for the sower, regarding the furring .my neighbour does not have any problem, yet both houses were built by same builder at same time/ the cold water header tank is a good 2metres above, the feeder pipe from header to boiler is 22m, and outlet the samem my cold water taps all come off direct mains supply 15m, thanks for your reply, I have asked local plumber.a friend, all he suggests is raising the header another 1metre. and installing a 50gallon header tank,my tank at present is 25gall. it works for my neighbour |

On the subject of furring, the fact you have two identical systems is irrelevant, scale is deposited at temperature rise the higher the temp the more the scale, cylinder stat should be set no more than 55c.
Raising the storage tank will help a bit but I suspect you have the wrong taps.
