| I have a dwarf lilac in its third year. Last year only one branch produced flowers, this year 2 branches have buds. Is there anything I can do to encourage more abundant flowering? |

Sounds like the poor thing hasn't been looked after.
When planting you should keep it well watered during hot dry spells or the roots will die.
Mulching with 3-4" of well rotted farm manure, peat or garden compost will help keep the moisture in the soil during dry periods would have promoted growth and led to a much healthier plant.
Pruning will also encourage flowering. |

Me again.
Bumped into the man in the garden center today, and he said you should sprinkle a liberal helping of "Blood and Bone" around the shrubb during the winter months. |
