Right then, my toilet doesn't flush properly....the water just rises in the pan then empties.
I re-newed the syphon, thinking that was the problem, hm, what a waste of time that was! The water only runs down the sides of the pan and not from the front or the back, like it used to. Any advice would be much appreciated. Smile

C'mon, someone must know!!! Smile

The water xhouldn't rise much in the pan if it's a normal washdown type - would indicate pipe blockage.
Cistern hasn't got a water saving device has it?
What has changed? Could it be the connection between the cistern and pan has been altered (before you changed the siphon!!)? If they're done up very tight the downward pointing pipe coming out of the cistern can get obstructed by being too close to the china intake bit of the pan, in which case you can cut the bottom of the pipe off (part of the siphon). Could be you doughnut is too thin?

Some wc's are just cr*p!

No, my cistern doesn't have a water saving device, But i used the old doughnut washer.....as the new doughnut made the cistern sit too high off the pan. I also inserted a new pipe into the siphon because the old inset wouldn't fit and i was just guessing at the length, but this was happening b4 i re-newed the siphon. If there is a pipe blockage, would this be in the soil pipe connecting to the pan, or could it be anywhere in the pipe Question

Slow "evacuation" can be caused by tight bends off the back of the pan. A blockage in that area can slow things too. Make a grapefruit/melon sized ball of toilet paper - big enough to get caught on an obstruction, to see if it gets caught, making the water rise higher.

Loo pans with smaller diameter bowl/U bend exit waterways tend to be better at clearing cos the water velocity is higher. I have known several people give up on new pans, especially cheap imports. With some the whole action is just too lazy.

Only obstruction to the pan-washing could be scale build up under the rim, apart from that pipe protrusion past the doughnut., which might be worth trimming.
