hoping i can get some help with this...
i need to "dim" my 125mm fan to reduce it's noise. i am currently using a £15 ceiling fan dimmer that buzzes and causes the fan to hum when slowed down to less than 50%.
i am looking to replace it for a superior speed controller, but i'm not 100% sure whether i have chosen the right one, and i can't afford to waste money on another piece of equipment that is obsolete the moment i connect it.
so, i am now looking at a choice between a 1A or 3A Electronic Multi Speed Fan Controller made by "soler + polau". the 125mm fan is rated at 46W 240V.
will this "dimmer" work or will it make more buzzing and humming?? should i go for the 1A or 3A model??
i'll chuck in some links to clarify what i am talking about - hope it's not against site rules... feel free to delete them if it's a problem.
can't find a link for the controller i am using now...
the fan i am using - http://www.tlc-direct.co.uk/Products/MRMRK125M.html
the controller i am looking at - http://www.tlc-direct.co.uk/Products/SLREB1.html (also available in 3A, same manufacturer
thanks for any help,
