Hello,

I am in the process of replacing an electric shower with a pumped shower. (Pump based in bottom of airing cupboard plumbed from there into the bathroom). I now need to wire this up and have the original electrical feed from the CU in twin and earth 6mm for the shower in the loft space. If I reduce the rating of the MCB to 6amp can I extend this wiring in 2.5mm twin and earth to the airing cupboard and feed the pump through a 5amp fused switch connection. It would mean extending the cable by some 14m. Help would be appreciated.. Stuart Confused

Yes you can extend it with no problem, or you can put the fused spur on the end in the loft and fuse down to 3amp and just extend the pump cable. That saves you the cost of a mcb.

Thanks Vince, You mention having the fuse spur at 3A but the installation book says 5A, trust the 3A will only make it safer.... I originaly planned to do the cable run extension in 2.5mm T&E but if its fused down to 3 or 5 amp at the end of the 6mm would this run be ok in 1.5mm T&E (only I have already got a roll of that)?
