I just put in a GFCI in a bathroom outlet which had 4 wires (line & load?)
I must have installed it correctly because it is working properly, however in a second bathroom I tried installing another one which had only the two wires + ground.
I hooked the white wire to the line and the black to the hot wire terminal across from it and connected the ground.
I cannot get it to work, and now when I test the bare wires with the probe with the power turned back on nothing is registering at all.
I even tried a different GFCI but that won't work either.
The outlet was working fine before I tried putting in the GFCI.

Please help! Thanks

Hi Darla,
If the second outlet was working and now you do not get a voltage reading on the bare wires something had to trip in your breaker box or there is a GFI somewhere before this receptacle. Make sure when you hook up the GFI you are hooking up to the line side for both line nuetral and line hot (typically these are directly across from each other)... the ground gets hooked up like normal. There should be instructions in or on the box the GFI came in. Regardless, you should get a voltage reading on the wires when the circuit is on. If you continue having problems contact a licensed contractor in your area to fix it for you.
