We have a strange problem with several electrical sockets. When the wife and I use certain ones to change the mobile phones, they appear to charge, become full etc, then run out and die within a day. However same sockets can power the kettle and everything else ok apart from sometimes a portable CD player!

I would have thought that the phone charger being a transformer would be fine, as i said the phone even thinks it is fully charged (for a short period). Goes for 3 phones/chargers tried.

Any Ideas? Is is a 2 year old build, the house so we will get someone in to investigate but like to have some background knowledge first.. you know builders!

The problem will not be the wiring in your home.
It sounds like the mobile batteries are suffering from what is known as the memory effect. When the battery is placed on charge when it is not completly empty, it will only charge by say 98% and so on until the battery says it is full but it is not. The only action you can take is to replace the batteries. Only charge them when they are empty and try to let them fully charge before you unplug them. The same applies if you place your phone in a car kit or charger, it will kill the battery.
