|
|
I'm sure this one gets asked a lot, and I'm not sure if any of you can even tell me the answer but anyway...
I have a new boiler already which is hanging on the wall waiting to be connected to the water and gas supply. The plumbing is in place to do this - the water plumbing is new, the gas pipe is there from the old boiler, but obviously we don't want to do it ourselves. In addition, I also want a gas pipe installed to the cooker hob.
How much should I expect to pay for this - if it makes any difference I live in London.
Thanks

| Depends, depends! What's the boiler, what was the previous boiler, how old is the heating system otherwise, where more precisely are you, are you in a hurry, and who hung the boiler! |

dont know the rates down there in london but here in the north west you could expect to around about £250 + your materials
could be more if the gas pipe needs upgrading to a larger size to accomodate new cooker - |

Thanks for the replies.
The answers to ChrisR's questions:
Old boiler was a combi but don't know what make - it was old though.
New boiler is a Valient but again don't know what model.
Entire flat has been re-plumbed, including new rads, so I think all pipework going to the new boiler is new, but not touched any of the gas obviously! The flat was converted in 1981 I think so I'm guessing the gas pipe is as old as that.
The new boiler was hung on the wall by boyfriends dad who is a very experienced builder, but not qualified to hook anything up.
We are in Balham - SW12 and would like the work done as soon as possible (in the next couple of weeks).

You'd expect to pay a more in Balham than in the North West. The old system should be chemically power flushed, checked for leaky rad valves etc. Hope the boiler fitting is in accordance with the latest regs, which to be fair it probably is if there was a similar boiler before. Technically only a corgi regd person is allowed to hang the thing on the wall. Gas pipe/ size ditto. Don't forget the guy do the installation is taking resonsibility for it, would be expected to turn up free for problems in the guarantee period, etc.
I was working in Balham 8 hours ago (yes that's 10pm!). Have sent you a message.. |
