Hi

I wired several 3 wire swiches in my house and they both have the same problem.

They both work fine as long as I use them in order if I go out of order they wont come back on. I'll explain.

Example:
switch 1 is on the bottem of the stairs
I turn switch 1 on and the light at the top of the stairs goes on.
I go up the stairs and I can turn the light off with switch 2.
I can then turn the light back on with switch 2 but not switch 1

The same happens the other way
Turn switch 2 on light is on
turn switch 1 light goes off
but it wont go back on with switch 2

Can you follow what I mean? I have checked and rechecked with the wiring digram in Readers Digest wiring book but cant see what is wrong.

Power enters the light fixture
Nutral wht goes to fixture.
Blk to switch 1 and back up the black wire on 2 (I think)
The white and red wires are attached to each other.

Have I got something crossed ?

Thanks
Eddy

I take it you have used the phase wire to the Common on one switch and from the Common to the light fitting, if so swap the two wires in one of the switches.

The strapping wires between the switches are L1 to L1, & L2 to L2
