Replacing gas oven and hob with Electric oven and hob

We are replacing our kitchen and are going to remove the gas oven and hob we currently have and install full electric. The oven at the moment is gas but has an electric ignition so I won't have to install any new wiring. However, I would like to know if it is a simple case of just taking the old oven and hob out and replacing them or will I have to remove the gas connection? Is this something I could do with instructions or do I need a professional?

First the gas would need to be made safe and tested by a corgi guy with domestic ticket.

Second the electric that supplies the ignition would almost certainly be unsuitable for an electric oven etc and would need an electrician to install a cooker cable etc back to the board.

Alan could tell you more details if you lets know what you have and the size of the cable.

The gas oven we have at the moment is also electric fan assisted. There is a cooker swicth at the side of the cooker with an adjoining plug socket. Would this mean that the cable is suitable for an electric oven? It looks the same as the one in our old house where we just installed an electric oven on our own.

If its a proper cooker switch, then one would assume the cable was ok, for safety I would still check its condition.
