I am going to board out my loft this weekend and I want to put in a double socket to gain light, heat, power etc how do I do this ?
Can I tap straight in to the mains wire that travels around the joists (is this the ring main) and place a junction box in to supply the double socket
What are the black circular plastic covers (are these just junction boxes for the upstair lights) and am I better off running a wire rom these boxes
I should add that I always work on the electrics with it switched off and the kids out of the house |

Simon - No disrespect but if you cannot recognise ring main cable or seem unsure what a junction box looks like 'black circular plastic covers (are these just junction boxes for the upstair lights)' I would suggest you leave well alone for the safety of all.
