Hi. I am replacing a dimmer. The one in the wall has a red wire and a white wire screwed into the existing dimmer. The new on I bought has a black wire and a green wire coming out of it. In the wall, there are black wires screwed off with a cap. How do I know which wires to put together since the new dimmer is different than the old one? The diagram is reall confusing. Thanks!

I have been away... hopefully your dimmer is up and running... do not undo the wire nut on the wires in the box... there has to be another wire than the 1 black and 1 green coming out of the dimmer... if you still need help let me know... if you got it - great!
