Hi,
I am considering moving into a new apartment. The problem is that parts of this new apartment are really old. Case in point: the bathroom sink. It has the kind of faucet where there is a hot tap on the left and a cold tap on the right. There is also a large middle button that is used as the stopper.
I asked my potential landlord if this is something that he would change. He said, yes, but that I'd have to pay for materials and labor. Is this a big job? How much would something like this cost me? Can I do something like this myself?
I do not know what the situation is under the sink (if there are flexible hoses, or pipes, or what) but let's take worst-case-scenario and work from there.
Thanks so much!

I want to change it because one side comes out burning hot and the other freezing cold. You have to fill up the entire sink just to get warm water. This makes washing one's hands or face with a nice temperate mix really hard and endlessly annoying.
Also, let me be clear, it's not the kind where you just have two different knobs. It's two completely different faucets on opposite sides of the sink, each with their own knob. One pours out only hot water and the other pours out only cold. There is no mixing.
This style is common in Europe, highway rest stops, and our future apartment. joy. |
