I have an old Ideal Standard boiler which takes ages heating the hot tank, especially when the central heating is also on. I have flushed the primary system (gravity indirect) out & was thinking of installing a pump in the return pipe to the boiler to speed up the flow. However, on consulting the installation manual which came with the boiler, it says that this boiler is unsuitable for a pumped system. Why?
I cannot understand why water being returned to the boiler via a pump is any different to water being returned by a thermal cycle. I intended to use a central heating pump on its lowest setting, powered via the boilers thermostat.
Can anyone explain why this wouldn't work?
Thanks
