I'm doing a (slow) refurb on a old house and will be replacing rads & TRVs as I do each room. Just wondered if anyone had any preferences for rad and valve brands.

I like the simple look of the Stelrad Elite which seems to come in a wide range of sizes - they seem to be more expensive though Rolling Eyes. And all valves stick eventually don't they?

Also, I'm planning to put in shut off valves before/after the rad valves (and under the floor) as I always seem to get sticky or leaky valves so it would be easier to replace/service them. Is that overkill?

Thanks for your help

Unless you use full flow valves, the cheap isolating valves leak more than the radiator valves.

Buy a better make, Peglars for example

When you come to use them 5 years or so down the line you will probably have problems operating them!
