I need to install a water heater, and was looking at a water storage cylinder of 50L.

The manufacturers instructions stipulate that it must be installed with a vented tap. could someone please explain how a vented tap differs from a standard tap?

Thanks

A vented tap has a path to atmosphere even in the closed position, much like an open vent on a cylinder
