Hi all
Are there any suggestions regarding a constant high pitch noise coming from the boiler & more evidently the flue in the ridge tile.

All through the winter.. no problems, but just as it's warming up the boiler only has to be running a minute or so before this bloody annoying constant high pitch "Whistle" starts.

Sometimes it may stop after a few mins. but more often doesn't until the boiler burner quits.

We live on a fairly new estate 8-9 years & a lot of other houses have the same problem....
You know when it's six o clock because every house in our close has the alarms whistle going off.

It's driving us insane.... any ideas from you guys out there would be appreciated.

The nature of these boilers mean they are NOT a 'diy fix' product. To do so could quite literally endanger life!

The best advise I could give is to get a qualified boiler engineer in WHO KNOWS THESE BOILERS and that is important.

If you cannot find anyone locally then get several neighbours to jointly contact Potterton and get one of their engineers to visit, same day if possible, to diagnose problem.

There are certain parts, such as burner gasket that MUST be changed if the burner is removed and they need test equipment to set them up properly. I carry these gaskets as standard van stock whenever I visit one of these boilers but a DIYer would simply make do as they are not normally available 'off the shelf'..
