| hi guys ju st wondering whether anyones got an opinion on pipe freezing kits. i was thinking of buying one as have came across jobs where i need to drain down systems etc because of no drain valves on rads etc. whats the risk of pipe damage due to water expanding when frozen and is there any way to minimsise risk of damage. any little tips etc... |

| Electric ones - an excellent bit of kits for maintenance work. Gas ones ok bur risky if you get low on gas!! |

| what about damage to pipes microbore or 15/upwards is there a risk or are they good kit and do they tell you when water is frozen |

The pipe will expand slightly, so freeze away from where you want to cut the pipe or you'll have trouble getting the fittings on.
The water has to be static, and the freeze time is on the lid. Times will vary according the temperature etc, so always allow more, and keep the machine away from the work area because the fan will warm the pipe.
No damage will be done, saying that I have seen a bad joint come out. |
