We have an Ariston combi boiler for our central heating it is about 8 years old and fitted in the bedroom. There was a monstrous cupboard built around it which we have just ripped out and now we know why it was there. The pipe work was all over the place and the flue was really badly fitted, i'e we can actually see the daylight from where all the masonary has been knocked out. Luckily the room is not in use. We got a corgi to fix all the pipes. Can we block around the flue and seal it ourselves, i'e we were thinking of cementing around it and then sealing it using the plastic ring that i assume is there for that purpose? The corgi said he'd come out to check the flue once its done.

A weak sand and cement will be ok to seal the holes.
You must get the flue checked asap. |

It should be sealed with cement on the outside to prevent water entering the wall.
Inside just plaster or filler can be used.
As long as its sealed on the outside just the plastic gasket can be used on the inside.
The essential is to make the exit through the wall gas tight.
