|
|
hi first post !
Needs help. In the last week i am having to top up the pressure on central heating system every other day.
Each time i top it up to 1.5bar, its ok for a day or so then drops to zero. The hot water and radiators work fine for 1-2 days, then boiler locks out.
I have sealed system, with a keston celsius 25 boiler and a Megaflo heatrsadia tank.
I have bled the radiators and had the boiler serviced in Feb 08.
Can anyone help please ? |

Have you checked the Pressure Relief Valve which is from the boiler and terminates on the outside wall?
Tie a baloon over it and see if it collects any water. I presume you have no sign of a leak anywhere? |

i have checked the airing cupboard where the tank is, no signs of water leakage.
I have two pipes that come out onto the ext wall, one i believe is the boiler flue, is the other the pressure relief valve ?
i also have an overflow pipe from the megaflo which goes out to ext wall, buts thats dry. |

Forget the megaflow for a minute, its unlikely to be the problem.
Top the pressure up then turn the boiler, what does the pressure gauge do, and is any water dripping out the pressure relief pipe |

| pressure topped up to 1 bar. when the boiler is turned on, the pressure gauge slowly rises to just below 2 bar then remains there. I have noticed little drips from one of the external pipes, only occassional not constant dripping. |

| That sounds like it could be your pressure relief valve. Its a small 15mm copper pipe. If it is dripping constantly that can be enough to dump the pressure out of the boiler. |
