One of my builders adjusted the pressure on my heating & hot water system. I'm not sure if he's returned the filling loop stop tap to the correct (closed) position. At the moment, there's only one way I can turn it and that's clockwise. Does this mean it's open or closed? I can't hear any water or hissing sound when I turn it. Is it safe to leave it as it is - even if it's in the open position?

Thank you

Looking at the handle from the front anti-clockwise turns it off, the hose should be disconnected when not in use

Thanks - but why is it that with most other taps, the anti clockwise direction is for turning things on?

It has a handle/tap similar to what you'd see on the pipes of a plumbed in washing machine. The handle can either line up with the pipe or it can open anti-clockwise (as it is now) and be at a right handle to the pipe.

Thanks

Its a quarter turn lever type valve.

When it inline with valve it is on

When it is 90 degrees to the valve it is off

If the valve is not compltely shut off your pressure wil continue to rise in the system (shown on the pressure gauge) and it will release water via the pressure relief valve.

Hope to help

Yellowman - thanks. And sorry for referring to a right angle as a right handle!
